Marta Patterson became interested in mindfulness and meditation as a way to cope with stress.  She and her husband have two children, one of whom has a disability and life-threatening seizures. She felt she existed in "fight or flight" mode much of the time.

"Mindfulness and meditation practice allows me to be with whatever arises in life without always reacting and causing additional suffering," Marta says. "I've learned to live more in the present moment without worrying about what's next. This is where I find a sense of balance, peace and joy. These practices have truly transformed my life."

Currently, Marta teaches mindfulness at UCSD’s Center for Mindfulness, a program of the UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine. She also teaches online with eMindful and has a Mindfulness-Based private coaching practice.

Marta is a longtime meditator and yogi. She is a Registered Nurse with professional certifications as a Public Health Nurse, Health and Wellness Coach,  Holistic Health Practitioner, Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner, Qualified MBSR Teacher and Registered Yoga Teacher.

Many years of experience working as an RN in traditional healthcare, as well as extensive training and work with Integrative Health Modalities, has given Marta a well-founded understanding of the connection between mind and body in promoting health and well-being.
