Welcome Mala and Mantra’s 27th Retailer: Mii Amo Spa at Enchantment Resort!
After launching our debut Mantra Mala Collection last February and introducing our Moda Mala Summer Capsule Collection just last month, we’re so proud and excited to announce that Mala and Mantra has already welcomed its 27th stockist, Mii Amo Spa at Enchantment Resort in Sedona, AZ!
Though we always celebrate each and every new retailer who carries our consciously created malas, we’re especially excited about No. 27, as it’s an important number when it comes to mala beads.
The standard Buddhist mala is made up of 108 beads, a sacred number related to the 12 astrological houses, multiplied by the nine planets in our solar system. This number of Buddhist mala prayer beads is significant because it represents the number of mental conditions or sinful desires that one must overcome to reach enlightenment or nirvana.
One variation on the standard 108-bead mala is the wrist mala of 27 beads, with four circuits totaling 108 mantra repetitions. Wrist malas are made with 18, 22 or 27 beads and are sometimes referred to as “power beads.” They’re used to count prayers or mantras and often used to count prostrations.
